Color palettes based on the Patrick Kuang-Hui Liu's Your Name Engraved Herein

Your Name Engraved Herein movie, two actors on the beach

Many waters cannot quench love

This time, I made some color palettes based on the Patrick Kuang-Hui Liu's Your Name Engraved Herein, on Netflix. The biographical story of the director tell us about the love of two school boys in a traditional ( and homophobic) Taiwan.

Your Name Engraved Herein

(Chinese: 刻在你心底的名字, Pinyin: Kē zài nǐ xīndǐ de míngzi) is a 2020 Taiwanese romantic drama directed by Patrick Kuang-Hui Liu and starring Edward Chen, Jing-Hua Tseng and Leon Dai.

The photography of the film is fabulous as the use of the colored lights: yellow, red and blue. There are scenes with minimal colors, as the ones in the beach or in the demonstration, with white light and blue tones. As overcasted days. The scene where the main actors kiss, the first one, has red light. The scene on the bed and the scene of the argument with the school french priest are yellow and sunny.

The blue scene of the pool reminds me of the Krzysztof Kieślowski's Blue. The water in both movies represent love and emotion. As the quote of Song of Solomon at the beginning of the film: Many waters cannot quench love... Everything emotional, love-wise, happens in or near water: the shower, the pool, the sea, the waterfall.

Well, I recommend to watch the movie on Netflix before disappear.

Now, the palettes:
