his is a repost of an old article at Inspiredology, published in 2011, when I was visiting Rio de Janeiro as a tourist and had no to little idea I would be living there in the future. The website is off-line so I am rescuing these memories for you to appreciate some images from a time without pandemics and seclusion.

You will find here some interesting pieces, like the handwriting of Santos Dumont, text from 17th century, street signs & even a dated map of the subway, which has more stations now.
