Rio de Janeiro Cemeteries
Some time ago I took some pictures in the Cemitério São João Batista (Saint John the Baptist Cemetery) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It has a lot of statues everywhere and I wouldn't want to spend a night there. It is very near of the Botafogo neighbourhood, where is located the football club. It is surrounded by the hills and you can see the favelas with yellows, reds and blues painting them.
In this cemetery is buried the famous Carmen Miranda, along with other famous personalities from Brazil, like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes and others.
Take a look at the images:
And this one is from the Freguesia de Santana (Santana Church) in one of the islands of Ilha Grande at Angra dos Reis.
And this one of the sky over Angra dos Reis, it is just for the pleasure of being there in mind, with the birds (frigatebirds I think) flying over your head and the sun tanning your skin. With a caipirinha or an abacaxi and guanabana juice in your hand.
Desde hace mucho tiempo he tenido la misma inquietud de retratar estas esculturas, pero de manera local. Interesante muestra.
